Dental Insurance

Your insurance contract is an agreement between you and your insurance carrier. We strongly encourage patients to study the provisions of their insurance prior to surgery as there is significant variation in coverage between companies and plans. Our office staff is well-informed and up-to-date with insurance policies and is pleased to seek pre-treatment authorization on requests, following your initial consultation. When prearranged, we do require an estimated deposit on the day of service and will bill your insurance for the remainder of the fees. However, if your insurance company does not pay the amount they have quoted on the predetermination, you are responsible for the remainder of the fee.

Some insurance carriers will send payment directly to you, the policyholder. In these circumstances, full payment may be required at the time of service.

Dental insurance can be difficult to understand as it is not technically insurance but a money benefit and is designed to cover preventative treatment and a portion of the total cost of a person’s necessary dental treatment. As a specialist practice, many of the procedures completed in our office are necessary for your dental health and comfort, but may not be fully covered by your insurance company. This can result in out-of-pocket expenses for you. We work closely with your referring dentist to maximize your benefits and minimize your out-of-pocket expenses.

Our office is in-network with most dental insurance plans as a preferred provider. For plans that we are not in network with we will take care of preauthorizing and billing your insurance for you. In the state of Idaho, dentists and dental specialists are allowed to charge their usual and customary fee after an insurance benefit has been reached or if there is no benefit. Therefore, it is important to understand that although we may not be contracted or in-network with your dental insurance carrier, the total surgery cost at our office will still be similar and possibly lower compared to those contracted with the insurance companies.

Our office staff is knowledgeable and willing to work with you to answer any questions or concerns you may have.
